Ballerinas

It's been way too long!! As we quickly approach spring (66 degrees tomorrow!) I've been bolstering the kids summer clothes supply.

Auntie Kim started us off by sending some super cute Naartjie clothes. Then she clued me in on a sale, so I bought some more. Kim, buys size 3. I, buy size 2. When her clothes got here I had Addie try them on.

Honest, she was saying "cheese".

Size 3 on peanut a little big, but good. Now of course I question my size 2 purchases. When those come in I have Katie try them on.
Get it? Smallest girl tries the big clothes, bigger girl tries the smaller clothes? I can still be clever!

Katie's version of "cheese".

They make her look like a ballerina!

The universal 'ballerina' pose.

Addie pulls out a tutu to get in on the ballet action.

So Katie does as well.

Which leads to everyone getting in on the fun.

Katie doesn't quite believe in simply trying on clothes. She wore them the rest of the afternoon. By pure chance we went to meet John at Panera for dinner. I could only convince her to change back to more weather appropriate clothes by allowing her to wear her ballerina shirt over her long sleeve pink shirt. Hence, turning her into a princess. Sorry no photographic evidence.

My shameless plug for Naartjie...
they have the nicest packaging! The clothes come all nicely bundled in tissue paper. Personally packaged, not just grabbed off a shelf and thrown in a box. I used to by Ann Taylor (well, ok, Loft) and Banana Republic online. No tissue paper there!

PS..they had a good sale on clearance too, so they also have some size 4 coming as well. 😊

Sunday funnies

Sunday has always been the day for comics. Today was no different.

We'll start with a quick recap of the cleaning we did today. Daddy and the kids tackled vacuuming while I tackled sorting through the stuff piled up on our buffet. Not an important part if the day, until...

Zach cannot handle electronics. He is obsessed. It's all good when we let him have them, but so not good when time is up. Today he was playing with daddy's phone when's till it died. Daddy explained to him that the battery was dead. Zach, through his tears, goes over to where I piled our immense collection of batteries after cleaning earlier (seriously, we hoard batteries I've discovered), and brought daddy a whole package of them. So sweet and funny while sad too. Poor guy.

Today also led to the discovery of this:

I finally bought one on my last trip to Target. Zach and Addie discovered it and were sitting on it, backwards, on the floor. I showed them it goes on the toilet for them to sit on. The girls wanted NOTHING to do with that. Zach was game. He'd climb up and sit there. Like this.

YouTube Video

Disregard my pants less kids and Katie investigating her excema. While it looks like pedicures while pooping, it's actually Addie playing dr and using the tweezers on his toes, lol. We've taught them the tweezers remove imaginary owies, haha. For the next 30+ minutes Zach would run to the bathroom, climb up, sit for a few minutes, then run out, tell you he pooped (he didn't) and high five. Who would have ever thought Zach would show the first interest?!??

To end the night I had many mini heart attacks watching the Hawks head to the Super Bowl. I may have even surprised John a bit with my dedication this season.

Hope your Sunday had some fun too.

Some fun

Do the girls get along?

Sure? They were even hugging yesterday. Even though it looks like the middle of a cat fight.

Later, when Addie got put in time out to regroup, Katie brought her her doll, Sally, and one of the bubble guppies figures. And let me tell you, Katie does not relinquish a bubble guppy figure for anything!

John brought home donettes earlier in the week. He told the kids about them. But yet, he didn't want to give any to the kids. He leaves the sugar duties to me. So, after a few days I relented. Can you tell?

Today, I was helping Katie with something. I can't even remember what, but when we were done there were no other kids in sight. I was truly a little perplexed until I started hearing whispers in the bathroom. These two will be the cause of my going completely grey for sure.

They had stolen mommy's juice from the windowsill and were quietly trying it out. Oy!

Sugar high

At 9:15 tonight John came downstairs to tell me Zach was jumping in his crib, all were standing, laughing, giggling, and carrying on. We should have know to expect such behavior as this was their afternoon activity:

For the first time ever, we decorated gingerbread houses. I found a mini village at Target that had five small structures. Perfect for us! I put the homes together during nap time.

Convincing the kids to put the candy ON the house was a whole different story! To get Addie's marshmallow roof probably took 15 reminders. Mind you, she wanted them there, but was too busy eating her decorations to focus.

Please take note of the candy on his house. He had fun decorating.

Sampling is to be expected, for sure!

Chocolate smile and a great little cabin.

Our finished products. Johns ski lodge is on the left and my little house is second from right. Notice Zach's? Any questions as to why he's jumping in his crib after 9pm??

2 yr apt

The trio will be 2.5 in January. What better time for their 2 year checkup? In all seriousness, we were moving during that time. I would have got them in sooner, but dealt with my kidney stone first.

I ended up going with the local medical group. The pedi's were recommended for their patient care. When I called about getting them all in back to back, I was told not a problem as long as I don't cancel since it's such a big chunk of time I'm taking. No problem, I understand.

We would have been early if not for the great boot brouhaha. Addie put on Katie's boots. Knowingly. Katie threw a fit. We were running late. I ended up shoving Katie in Addie's boots to get out the door. Anyone who knows Katie knows how well she took that. :/

The office is newly re-done. They just moved into it. There are lots of kids books (note, I know where to donate my gently used books) so the wait wasn't too long. I had filled out all their paperwork previously, so that was easy too. The nurse called us back after 10-15 minutes. She got weights, heights, head size, etc. the kids were pretty open to her which was nice to see.

Katie:
Weighs 25.5 lbs
Measures 35 3/4"

Zach
Weighs 26 lbs
Measures 35 1/4"

Addie
Weighs 24.5 lbs
Measures 34"

Once we got all that it was wait time. So we waited.

And waited

And waited

Seriously. I know my appt was for 10:30 and I showed up at 10:30, but come on! The dr couldn't have gotten to us before 11:30! The only time I checked my phone it was 11:20 and we waited a bit after that. Not impressed with the wait time at all.

Kids are fine. Addie is on the charts for weight! She's in the 10%ile. They are all in the 50%ile for head size. Katie has excema on her legs. I just need to get some OTC cortisone cream and use more lotion on her. I'm not too surprised, she's always had dry legs but the excema rashes are getting a bit worse so we'll get on that. All kids are getting a referral to a pediatric orthopedist in Syracuse for their feet. Pretty much my impression was the dr just doesn't know what to do. That's fine, I'd rather get with someone who does.

We got some boosters and the flu shot. I can tell she thinks I'm wacky for not doing all immunizations as I still haven't done their MMR or chicken pox, but I don't care. She didn't pressure me to do them so that's good. When the nurse came in Zach volunteered to go first, clearly not knowing what was in store. Poor guy was so offended that the nurse hurt him. :(
But he got a Thomas sticker and a small box of raisins. Shockingly, Addie volunteered next. She wanted raisins, silly girl. She too looked truly offended that the nurse hurt her. :( Then there was Katie. She wanted a sticker. She knew which one before the shots. But that girl let the nurse know she was MAD, not just offended when she got poked. She cried and cried. She complained after that she has an owie on her arm. :( luckily she got a sticker and raisins too.

McDonalds and a cookie after helped. Mind you we didn't get out of there until 1pm. And we had to go drop our boxes off at the post office before getting lunch. Everyone got some Motrin when we got home as I expect we'll have some sore arms. Now here's hoping we don't have to go back anytime soon. And next time, I'm bringing something to occupy our time.

S

Water obsessed

For those that haven't seen her in action, Katie is our water bug. We noticed it last year. She did NOT want to get out of the pool at grandmas house. She loves her baths. I'm pretty sure when we get a water table for outside next summer she will thinks its the best toy ever.

While we love the open floor plan of our house, it also allows our kiddos to move their little chairs to various points around the room to reach/see/engage in any and all activities. Permitted or not. 90% of the time this involves helpers watching me make dinner. And wash dishes. And wash hands. Oh the washing of hands.

Katie LOVES washing hands. "Wah han, wah han!" Is a common phrase from her as we turn on the faucet. She starts scooting her chair over so very excited. Only to find out we are washing dishes.

That is what I came downstairs to this morning. Daddy finishing up the washing of dishes. I made muffins yesterday. He hates cleaning muffin tins, so he simply filled them with water and soap for me to tackle later. And Katie watched. And watched. And watched. Even after daddy was done and gone.

I even caught her saying "hi" to the suds.

This afternoon Auntie Katie and Auntie Mary came over again. We played outside in the gorgeous weather and enjoyed lunch. After lunch little Katie hit the jackpot. Big Katie let her help wash dishes.

Our kids are growing up. We now have one that will help us with dishes any time we want. I bet she'll help even when we don't want. Water is just too irresistible!

Birds of a feather

We missed library time yesterday. I haven't felt good the past few days. Today it seems the kids chose to take matters into their own hands.

It all started with Addie. She just wanted to sit in the chair, covered up, and read her book. Zach decided she needed pillows.

My beautiful girl

Then Zach decided to join her.

All was calm for about 25 seconds.

Notice the peek sneaking?

Addie was very concerned that her blankie stay up under her chin. A modest child.

And what is fun for two can only be meant for three.

Mind you, very little book reading occurred from this point forward.

Next week we must get back out to the actual library.
