East Coast Easter

We started our celebrations Friday night. Silly Auntie Kim thought we weren't going to dye eggs, so she sent us a kit of plastic eggs to decorate. Note to triplet mommas, it was perfect for a trio! There were 3 sets of four eggs to create. A dog, mouse, chick, and a cat (or bunny maybe...it's been 3 days, I can't remember). This was a perfect activity for transitioning from walking/playing outside and getting ready for bed. The kids loved it!

Here's my eggs!

See?

Oh the smile!

And his dog

Carrying 4 eggs is kinda tough, ya know.

The kids did awesome with this activity. And no, we did not direct sticker placement at all. The eggs had eyes on them already, so I think that gave the kids a reference point and they went with it.

As for community celebrations, I never would have thought non-religious Easter celebrations here could be so different than in AK.

Last year a local church had an all-invited Easter egg hunt/celebration. We went bundled up in our snowsuits, hats, mittens, boots, etc.
Don't think this is just about the snow. It's not. That celebration above, was held a day or two before the holiday. Here, I started looking for Easter activities about a week and a half before the holiday. Silly me!! When I started looking, I found we had already missed many of the local Easter egg hunts!! Seriously. I found one that had been held March 31! Luckily, I found one at our local fairgrounds the 19th at 1pm. Perfect place, perfect time (except we were late, another story).

Since we were late, they didn't get to hunt eggs. They did take their baskets to the bunny for some candy. Katie was brave enough to wave and say thank you, even! Then we went to play on the slide. well, it WAS at the playground, how could we resist?. As we were playing, one of the volunteers started coming around putting eggs out again. Ok! So my kids started 'finding' them and putting them in their coat pockets. Of course, a few minutes later the announcement "kindergarten and first graders are now welcome to go find some eggs!" was made. Oops!! Hahahaha.

After that we came home so I could cook our eggs. We did dye them, and oh what an adventure that was. Of course Addie spilled a cup of the dye water who else would it be? No, they did not control too much of it. They picked the color, John or I attempted to guess the corresponding cup (come on Paas, is it really so hard to tell us which color tablet is which?!), put the egg in and would them show them the color as it dyed. They could tell us if they wanted it darker or if it was done. It was fun even though stress inducing. Note, we chose to ignore the glitter and shrink wrap cover options. Didn't even let the kids know they existed.

But, they did know about the stickers. Waiting is not a strong suit for toddlers, so I chose to get the heck out of dodge. Yep, I abandoned Daddy and went shopping on my own Hellooooo Target! leaving him to do the stickers. Did you note in the FB pics that he put 2 eggs in a ramekin, giving each kid two ramekins? Brilliant! No egg rolling to be had.

The kids baskets were an advertisement for Targets $1 section. And no, that is not what I was shopping for the night before. I actually have had all the items for a while now.

Yep, I forgot to get a pic before they dug in.

Note, the skinny white item in the front is a marshmallow bunny, the only big candy item they received.

Yes, you probably also noticed the Frozen DVD and thought dang! Her Target $1 section rocks!! Ha, I wish. But, I did get a smokin deal on it and had grabbed another movie I hear raves about... And a play guitar on sale as the kids LOVE when daddy gets out the guitar. Were they trulyEaster presents? No, they would have received them regardless so I went ahead and gave them in the baskets.

And here is whereI quasi-apologize. I don't have a pic of my kids all together. I don't have pics of them hunting for loads of eggs both in the house and out. I don't have pics beyond what you see. I was enjoying the day with the kids. okay, okay, and my phone wasn't charged :)

I hope your Easter was as enjoyable as ours was.

Loves!!

The Frozen deal...Target had the basic DVD on sale for $13, but the blue ray was $27.99! BUT they will price match. It was $19.96 on Amazon, and Target offered a 25% cartwheel coupon and I used my redcard. I spent $14 for the blue ray version. Yeah me!!

Ballerinas

It's been way too long!! As we quickly approach spring (66 degrees tomorrow!) I've been bolstering the kids summer clothes supply.

Auntie Kim started us off by sending some super cute Naartjie clothes. Then she clued me in on a sale, so I bought some more. Kim, buys size 3. I, buy size 2. When her clothes got here I had Addie try them on.

Honest, she was saying "cheese".

Size 3 on peanut a little big, but good. Now of course I question my size 2 purchases. When those come in I have Katie try them on.
Get it? Smallest girl tries the big clothes, bigger girl tries the smaller clothes? I can still be clever!

Katie's version of "cheese".

They make her look like a ballerina!

The universal 'ballerina' pose.

Addie pulls out a tutu to get in on the ballet action.

So Katie does as well.

Which leads to everyone getting in on the fun.

Katie doesn't quite believe in simply trying on clothes. She wore them the rest of the afternoon. By pure chance we went to meet John at Panera for dinner. I could only convince her to change back to more weather appropriate clothes by allowing her to wear her ballerina shirt over her long sleeve pink shirt. Hence, turning her into a princess. Sorry no photographic evidence.

My shameless plug for Naartjie...
they have the nicest packaging! The clothes come all nicely bundled in tissue paper. Personally packaged, not just grabbed off a shelf and thrown in a box. I used to by Ann Taylor (well, ok, Loft) and Banana Republic online. No tissue paper there!

Loves!

PS..they had a good sale on clearance too, so they also have some size 4 coming as well. 😊
