Sugar high

At 9:15 tonight John came downstairs to tell me Zach was jumping in his crib, all were standing, laughing, giggling, and carrying on. We should have know to expect such behavior as this was their afternoon activity:

For the first time ever, we decorated gingerbread houses. I found a mini village at Target that had five small structures. Perfect for us! I put the homes together during nap time.

Convincing the kids to put the candy ON the house was a whole different story! To get Addie's marshmallow roof probably took 15 reminders. Mind you, she wanted them there, but was too busy eating her decorations to focus.

Please take note of the candy on his house. He had fun decorating.

Sampling is to be expected, for sure!

Chocolate smile and a great little cabin.

Our finished products. Johns ski lodge is on the left and my little house is second from right. Notice Zach's? Any questions as to why he's jumping in his crib after 9pm??

2 yr apt

The trio will be 2.5 in January. What better time for their 2 year checkup? In all seriousness, we were moving during that time. I would have got them in sooner, but dealt with my kidney stone first.

I ended up going with the local medical group. The pedi's were recommended for their patient care. When I called about getting them all in back to back, I was told not a problem as long as I don't cancel since it's such a big chunk of time I'm taking. No problem, I understand.

We would have been early if not for the great boot brouhaha. Addie put on Katie's boots. Knowingly. Katie threw a fit. We were running late. I ended up shoving Katie in Addie's boots to get out the door. Anyone who knows Katie knows how well she took that. :/

The office is newly re-done. They just moved into it. There are lots of kids books (note, I know where to donate my gently used books) so the wait wasn't too long. I had filled out all their paperwork previously, so that was easy too. The nurse called us back after 10-15 minutes. She got weights, heights, head size, etc. the kids were pretty open to her which was nice to see.

Katie:
Weighs 25.5 lbs
Measures 35 3/4"

Zach
Weighs 26 lbs
Measures 35 1/4"

Addie
Weighs 24.5 lbs
Measures 34"

Once we got all that it was wait time. So we waited.

And waited

And waited

Seriously. I know my appt was for 10:30 and I showed up at 10:30, but come on! The dr couldn't have gotten to us before 11:30! The only time I checked my phone it was 11:20 and we waited a bit after that. Not impressed with the wait time at all.

Kids are fine. Addie is on the charts for weight! She's in the 10%ile. They are all in the 50%ile for head size. Katie has excema on her legs. I just need to get some OTC cortisone cream and use more lotion on her. I'm not too surprised, she's always had dry legs but the excema rashes are getting a bit worse so we'll get on that. All kids are getting a referral to a pediatric orthopedist in Syracuse for their feet. Pretty much my impression was the dr just doesn't know what to do. That's fine, I'd rather get with someone who does.

We got some boosters and the flu shot. I can tell she thinks I'm wacky for not doing all immunizations as I still haven't done their MMR or chicken pox, but I don't care. She didn't pressure me to do them so that's good. When the nurse came in Zach volunteered to go first, clearly not knowing what was in store. Poor guy was so offended that the nurse hurt him. :(
But he got a Thomas sticker and a small box of raisins. Shockingly, Addie volunteered next. She wanted raisins, silly girl. She too looked truly offended that the nurse hurt her. :( Then there was Katie. She wanted a sticker. She knew which one before the shots. But that girl let the nurse know she was MAD, not just offended when she got poked. She cried and cried. She complained after that she has an owie on her arm. :( luckily she got a sticker and raisins too.

McDonalds and a cookie after helped. Mind you we didn't get out of there until 1pm. And we had to go drop our boxes off at the post office before getting lunch. Everyone got some Motrin when we got home as I expect we'll have some sore arms. Now here's hoping we don't have to go back anytime soon. And next time, I'm bringing something to occupy our time.

Loves,
S
